I'd like to buy (with months and months of rake I paid to Pokerstars of which they are returning me a small portion) a nice TV for our living room. It's main purposes will be the following:

1) Watching Red Sox games.

2) Playing Halo 3.

3) Watching the TV Food Network.

4) Watching Cheap Seats.

5) Watcing various HBO series' (Entourage and CYE!!!!).

I want something between 37 and 50 inches. Between $1000 and $3000. What are the best options?

sony wega 60" for about 2k from costco is a great value, imo.

i haven't geeked out on tv research lately, so there may be better values out there. that being said, i am always pleasantly surprised by the picture quality from this tv when compared to other systems.

I have to agree with kuso- when we were outfitting our old house and were lookin for TVs we pretty much looked EVERYWHERE for the best deals, and Costco consistently had the best. Between me and Mike the mizor, we ended up with a 50", a 42" and two 32"s all from costco and all significantly cheaper than the same TVs from anywhere else. Theyre noname brands though (all but one) but none of them have had any problems so far, and theyre all over a year old...costco pretty much pwns.

was my recent adventure shopping for a big screen TV. I pwned Circuity City.

Now, they are even cheaper.

We got a 50" Panasonic Plasma that was highly rated by Consumer Reports. So far so good.

Been meaning to hook up the old laptop via S-Video and see what that looks like. That'll be a picture worth posting.

I have the Panasonic 50" Plasma TH-50PX60U. You can get it through Bestbuy online for $1,999.99. That is one hell of a deal, regular price is $2800. I got this TV back in August, and I love it.

Go here for a picture of mine:

Be glad your opponents refuse to fold; if they didn't, you just might go broke.
