it's poker software with several features.
first, you can play against sims so that you can get practice in a game before you play at real money tables. there are a variety of bot styles, so you can play against different types of players (tight, passive, maniac, etc.).
the advisor funciton, should you use it, gives you advice about the statistics and odds of the situaitons you're in.
there is also a sim tool that lets you run various strategies to see how they work against different opponents. just as an example, i plan on running a few simulations against various opponent styles to find out what the various deciles of values for o8 starting hands are when playing HU.
from what i understand, many of the pros have these programs. i believe joe sebok (barry greenstein's step-son) from cardplayer mag started learning poker with wilson.
read more stuff on the site (there are reviews, too). these programs are pretty awesome research tools and decent pratice tools (good for basics). the guy who wrote "The Banker..." considers these must-haves.
fwiw, the sim opponents in Poker Academy are supposed to be better (esp. HU), but that's just a HE program with fewer research features (iirc).
wwcrd?
