Im a little foggy on this myself, and I think there are a couple different variations, but basically it would be something like raising preflop.....check/call the flop....then lead the turn.

Now ask me in what situation would you use it....I have no idea. Ive tried it a few times and I didnt like the results at all.

Only time I find it useful is against good players. Really confuses them as to what you've got, as your preflop raise shows that you have some sort of hand, while your flop check/call tens to portray some sort of draw. By them time the turn comes around they can't put you on anything.

Definately a worth while move to know, but not one I use very often.

When I see someone play like that, I figure they hit something on the turn. Like AQ then they hit their Q or something. Didn't know it could be a strategy. Hmm....

OK, now what's "slow-rolling"?

Thanks.

Taking a long time to make a decision that doesn't merit that ammount of time. Like taking two minutes to call with the nuts.

Slow rolling will get you knocked out of your chair at some casinos.

I heard a stop and go was calling a raise preflop out of position, and then pushing all in on the flop no matter what as first to act.

Is slow rolling only considered a sin when there is no reason for it at all? I mean, say I have the nuts but it's only the turn and I want the guy to think I don't have the nuts. Is it really against poker etiquette to pretend to think about it for a minute?

I know that in the game of bridge, for instance, if you only have one card in the suit that's led you have to play it right away -- you're not allowed to sit there and think to try to make it look like there is more than one card you can play.

slow rolling is after the hand is over and you have to reveal cards to see who won and the person who knows he has the winning hand delays showing it to be an asshole.

Taking TOO long for an easy decision still makes you an ass. But taking maybe ten seconds to make it look like you actually have to think is fine.
