The deal is, it's supposed to be taking place between Episodes III and IV. Darth Vader's apprentice, the main character, is hunting down Jedi. George Lucas has given his approval for the story so it is official Star Wars cannon. He encouraged them to create new characters and the belief is that they will appear in the upcoming Star Wars TV series, for which there are 2 planned. An animated one, slightly similar to the Clone Wars cartoons a couple of years ago, set to start sometime in August, around the same time the game is supposed to come out. And a live one, not to be ready until 2009 or even 2010.
