Everyone speaks decent english
No terrorist attacks

Cons:
3 months of good weather, 9 months of cold, rain and snow

Canada - unless you've travelled abroad before...because americans should have to go through a program where they get graduate into progressively traveling to more 'foreign' countries. Start with canada, then the UK, then europe, then wherever.
