Street Fighter 2

Postby EscapePlan9 » Wed Dec 14, 2005 1:40 am

Lately I've been playing a lot of Street Fighter 2 (specifically, SNES' Super Street Fighter 2 on my emulator). Anyone else here a SF2 fan?

Currently my best character is Guile, but I get tired of using him so much and have to branch out. Guile is the only character I have little trouble beating the AI on highest difficulty. Going against Chun-Li is hell though!

I wish my buddy didn't leave my Street Fighter Alpha 3 disc at his house. I really want to play that over break (which just started). I would tear up the game with Akuma there!

I think I have played SF2 on the sega genesis / arcade more than any other game. Not to make a claim that no one can verify, but I will beat anyone at this game.

As for other major time wasters - NBA JAM back in the day comes close. Final fantasy 7 is up there too, tony hawk 2, and gran turismo 2 as well.

Back on topic though - Ryu is the mf'ing man, hands down. Ha-do-ken! Duck-duck-duck-da-la-duck-duck-duck, or whatever... easily my best character. Ironically though, I suck w/ Ken - since I played Ryu so much, I could never get used to Ken's pacing - higher uppercut, shorter roundkick.

Chun Li will do in a pinch, and Blanca was solid as well. I knew some guys that were nasty with Sagat, but I think he's too slow to be effective.

Zangief is a joke - I'll light his ass up with change of pace fireballs all day. If I was a robot, I could play Dhalism, but since I'm not, his special moves are way too hard to execute consistently.

Ahh, memories.

ehonda, just use the superfast jab constantly and play cheap. I agree though that ryu is the man and once you get to use akuma in street fighters, there's no question.

Yeah, in the Hyper-Turbo Edition when u are dead and falling down. You have to go front circle-back circle-up-up-down-down-jab and the machine would shut off before u hit the ground. Thus u get to keep playing and ur opponent (who beat u) had to reload!! Excellent!

PS Mike Tyson' Punchout Rocks!! 0073735963------> Tyson Code!!

Watching videos of professionals play is a great way to learn how to handle different situations. It's one thing to read about the strategies and another to see them in action, as well as how opponents respond to them.

Mike Tyson's Punchout also was an excellent game. Which reminds me... I finally learned why Balrog's name is M.Bison in Japan. They changed his name to Balrog because M.Bison is supposed to be Mike Bison, a parody of Mike Tyson, and they were afraid of a lawsuit.
