Have you noticed most top pros are very smart young guys? It seems that most of them are grad students at the very best universities of the USA. Most young donks wouldnt get near a college if they could make 56k/month playing poker. The difference I see with this top guys is tht they are not only intellectually gifted but also display levels of maturity that are well beyond their age. I say that last part remembering the old days when MadGenius was a poster. I remember talking to him and I could never thought he was only 18 at that time.

As i said to ice a few days ago, the crazy winrates even at medium stakes NLHE seems to be reserved to a very exclusive group of very talented players. Everytime i read from some of this guys this becomes more obvious. Aba20-srugby is a very talented young man.

Something that comes to my atention is the fact that most of this guys are so young. I think the disregard/detachment from money that you must have in order to be successful as a poker pro can only be achieved by someone who hasnt been working "hard" traditional jobs to get money. It is nice to get to know these guys like Ozzie87, Mad Genius and Aba. They seem to be determined to great things...

Xaston is like 34987568974 other young Jewish guys who think that, because they are smarter than 97% of the people they know, they can get by on that. Unfortunately the truth is that no matter how smart you might be, there are at least 50 people who are smarter, 50 who work harder, and 25 who are both. Hopefully he will understands this before he becomes the assistant senior night popcorn manager.

There is a huge difference between having the potential to do great things and actually doing great things. A lot of people have the former, very few have done the latter.

Be glad your opponents refuse to fold; if they didn't, you just might go broke.

I hope you clearly and specifcally defined what 'work ethic' was in your prop bet cause I can see a million problems right there.

I think that would be interesting hard, and I don't really think I'd be a favourite as for the next 3 months I won't be playing anywhere near as much as I'd usually play - plus I'm planning on spending a lot of the money I earn on buying investment properties rather than aggressively moving up in stakes so that would obv put me at a disadvantage.

To make the bet better (more/less fair? I dunno) would be to see who has the higher networth in 13 months. We obv can't do who has a higher % network as you and xas and at the bottom of downswings and I'm at the top of an upswing.
Poker is silly.

It is not enough to be good at chess, you must also play well.

Yeah true.

How about we say who increases their networth by the most and I have to subtract whatever % you guys pay on poker winnings tax from my poker winnings.

That said, i'm not sure my networth is higher really as you guys own a lot of things such as furniture, car, etc that I don't - it depends what we use to calculate net worth I guess.
