What exactly is a mitt joint as refered to in Rounders? I get the negative connotation as used in the movie but am not sure what it really means. Can someone shed some light?

I am curious about a "presto", I know it is a hand/hole cards.

Hey, Eagle. Good question. Here is a definition I found, which I'll update the BTP glossary with.

Mitt joint - (USA) A club where the house cheats the players, or one that turns a blind eye to cheating in general.

low_dough: BTP will have a 'names for hands' article soon, too (also donated by TUP), but there is currently no historical background to each name, which would be good to have. A cursory glance around the internet does not enlighten me to the origin of this particular name. Anyone know?

I believe Presto! is a pair of fives in the pocket. Do not have any historical origin info though.
