This one if the reason Europeans find the US a bit.... amusing at times??!

Don't worry. We find ourselves amusing, too.

For just a few paragraphs in length, this story really has it all...

Intrusiveness of lawyers and the legal system: check.
Ludicrous overstatement of damages: check
Uptight attitude toward sex: check
Overprotection of adolescents: check
Self-righteous blowhards: check

The grandparents should have sued for more. I haven't seen the complaint, but it should name as defendants the substitute teacher, the regular teacher, the principal, the members of the school board individually and as a political entity, the city of Chicago, Cook County, the State of Illinois, and all of the other children in the school, their parents/guardians, the actors in the film, the movie studio, DVD distributors, the store where the DVD was purchased, the manufacturer of the DVD player, the television manufacturer, Ebert and Roper and the Chicago Tribune for giving the movie a good review, and about 800 doe defendants.

All of these people, and society in general, need to be taught a lesson that offending the sensibilities of 8th graders and their grandparents cannot be tolerated in a good Christian society.

Amen.
