Probably not. Many have tried, many have failed. The biggest roadblock to it would be issues with the World Trade Organization. WTO has made it clear that the US would be in serious violation of trade treaties by banning people from doing business with offshore casinos, B&M or online.

I never disagreed that pot shoul potentially be used (though not smoked) for medicinal purposes. I am ambivalent to the arguments for legalising it for all uses.

Incidentally, in the UK pot has been declassified from a class B to a class C drug (which puts it in the class of certain illegal anabolic steroids and painkillers), which basically decriminalises it. If you're picked up with a small amount of pot you basically wouldn't be in any trouble for it, though if you're arrested for something else and are found to have some pot it's possible you may receive an official caution for it.
