Some of you may have read some of my cop stories in the articles section. Ive decided to add a few more to the list. I'll post it here until tetsuo gets back and he can put it on the article page.
The names have been changed. This is going to be hard to believe, but I promise you its true.
About 8-9 years ago, there we had a fairly new officer (I'll call him Officer Jones). Jones was not a very good officer. He had done several things that should have gotten him fired especially since he did some of them while he was on probabtion. For reasons I wont get into, he was kept around.
It became apparent pretty early on that something was wrong with him. He was just too strange. I had actually heard stories that he had been seen wearing a foil hat. Pretty much everyone believed he was crazy.
He wrote a letter to to the FBI accusing the police department of trying to kill him. A "behavioral cause" investigation was started. This is basically an investigation to see if he if mentally fit to be a police officer. All of us knew he wasnt, but we're not doctors, so what the hell did we know?
At about that same point in time, there was a Sergeant ( I'll call him Sgt Smith) who worked at the jail, who was also well known to be mentally ill to some degree. He was taking medication for it and his wife had called the police department several times trying to warn them. For whatever reason, he was still allowed to continue working.
Officer Jones was not allowed to work the streets during his behavioral cause investigation so he was working inside one of the police sub-stations answering phones and things like that. Officer Jones decided to take a smoke break and went to the back of the station where the cars are parked to smoke his cancer stick.
About that same time, Sgt Smith was apprarently suffering some kind of "episode". Like I said, Im not a doctor, but Im assuming he was delusional to some degree. Sgt Smith drove to the sub-station where Jones was smoking. Sgt Smith approached Jones as Jones was standing by the back door. Sgt Smith, without warning, pulled out a gun and shot Jones in the chest.
Two other officers just happened to be arriving at the station and heard the gunshot. They didnt know who the gunman was but saw what happened and they shot and killed Sgt Smith, who was in civilian clothes. Jones was wearing his vest and was not seriously injured.
What do you think the FBI thought when they heard about this incident after getting that letter from Jones?
Jones later sued the police department and received a large amount of money which I heard was in the million dollar range.
This part Im not 100% sure of, but I was told that Jones got up off the ground and fired 1 shot into Smiths dead body and said something like "F YOU"!
