While it is fair to say that the Pats played bad enough that they didnt deserve to win but that was one of the worst officiated games I have ever seen in the playoffs.

That pass interference was terrible and gave the Bronco's their first touchdown complete with gift wrap. On the Elam 50 yard field goal, there was a blatently obvious false start that somehow got missed. The fumble out of bounds by Bailey should have been a touchback, anyone with 6th grade geometry skills should have been able to figure out that the angle the ball came out and where he was hit it had to have been a touchback. That accounts for all of Denver first 17 points.

That said the Pats deserved to lose with how bad they played, 4 fumbles and 1 Int pretty much handed the game to the Broncos. The Bronco's looked mediocre at best. If they play that way next week they are going to get killed by either the Pats or Colts.

How about the backwards throw that was ruled incomplete... made zero sense... although the end result was incomplete either way.

I think the sportsbook I bet at paid the refs $500 to blow that game in about as many ways as humanly possible... I agree w/ Rhound when I say that the Pats didn't do everything they could've done to win, but MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN did they get assraped...

That was, by far, the worst pass interference call of all time... if ANYTHING, it's offensive PI...

PI call was pretty horrible, but I don't think that the fumble by Bailey was obvious. If there is a blimp cam view, that would have been the perfect angle to have there. But, since there was no goalline view and no camera angle that gave you a clear view of when he lost control exactly, you can't go against the field call. I would have laughed my ass off all day though if there had been a view that showed the ball crossing the goalline in Bailey's hands before he lost it. That would have been hilarious...challenging a call and instead of getting the result you wanted, giving your opponent a TD and losing a TO.

I only say this b/c I had to sit through someone for 20 minutes rewinding it over and over again w/ TIVO. Great invention, sure, but only when used by the forces of good, not the evil one I watch with, my buddy.

I think the Broncos went 17 yards total for their TDs. If they play even twice as good next week no matter who they play they will not win especially in Indy. I don't like the Patriots as much as the next guy but they are the better team. Now I know why no one has been talkin about the Broncos this year because they are not very good overall.

If it wasnt for turnovers and punt and kickoff returns, the Steelers wouldve masacred the Pats last year in the playoffs. That stuff is part of the game. The Pats usually win, not beause they have more talent than everyone, but because they execute flawlessly and never make mistakes. Obviously that wasnt the case last night and they lost just like every other mortal team that makes mistakes.

The PI call was bad, but theres now way in hell anyone could tell where that fumble went across the out of bounds line. I TIVOed it about 20 times and couldnt tell. I say it went just about over the pylon, but theres no way I couldve reversed the call no matter which way they called it.

I agree with you, iceman. There was no way it could be reversed. Sadly, there just aren't enough cameras to cover everything, esp when a play reverses the field for 99 yards. I do think it went out in the end zone, but no way to prove it.

Yep, the Pats lost. They simply handed the game to the Broncos. The officiating was probaly the worst I've ever seen. The interference call was horrendous and might have actually been the difference in the game. But, Belichik made a crucial mistake in taking the holding penalty just before. Let them try the long field goal for three rather than giving them another down. He then made another mistake when he tried for the field goal Viniateri missed. That would have made it only 8, and gave the Broncos better field position. They weren't going to go down the field at that point, as they hadn't shown they could hurt the Pats on offense. Hard to believe that the Pats made so many mistakes, but Belichik making bad coaching decisions is really hard to believe.

The Patriots deserved to lose. It's a bitter taste to last for the next 8 months.
