ICEY NFL Picks

Postby iceman5 » Sun Oct 23, 2005 10:28 pm

I used to bet on the NFL heavily but got away from it the past few years. Its very very tough to make money betting the NFL. No matter how much you know about football, there is so much parody in the league that its very tough to beat the juice. However, that never stopped me before. I just recently started betting a few games again since Bodog has a sports book. Here are my selelctions so far. I will continue to post my picks and see how I do. I really just hope to do a little better than break even and add some spice to watching the games. I will update this sticky each week with my picks for anyone whos interested.

Wasn't that a 2 point win vs the Chargers?

Pitt beat SD by 2, but I had Pitt +3 I believe.

By the way, in this weeks picks....I got Pitt and Denver....2 of the NFLs best teams and both as underdogs. That doesnt happen very often. Denver outplayed NY the whole game. Its hard to believe the Giants came back and won. Pitt completely dominated Cincy after the first 10 min of the game. Take a look at the 5 teams that Cincy has beaten and you'll see why Pitt was an easy pick for me. All of their stats are inflated by a whos who of bad teams. Theyve played 2 good teams (Jax and now Pitt) and lost to both of them.

nice picks!!

I agree with the softness of the Bengals schedule.....I am curious to see how they and the Colts do now that they are starting to face some quality opposition!

Awww, c'mon Ice, can't you show my Giants some respect? They hung around in a tough game and pulled it out when they needed to.

I gotta say that Denver's blitzing and stunting really screwed Manning up for most of the game. They ran some crazy stuff at them for most of the game, until the end where they backed off (and it cost them).

Not a big ball sports fan, preferring motor-sports, but I just have to say:

Im leaning towards taking the money line on the Steelers game. The Steelers will probably be 4-1 or so favorites, but I dont see any way in the world that they could lose (well, if Roethlisberger pulls a hammy in warmups and Maddox plays they might...or they might just run EVERY play and win anyway).

Interesting stat.....since Cowher has been the coach of the Steelers, any game that the Steelers led by 10 or more points at ANY time in the game, they are 97-1-1. This is mind boggling to me. Thnk about how many times you see teams come from behind in the 4th quarter, let alone coming back from an early deficit.

Yeah, and as soon as Al Michaels stated that Bill Parcells was undefeated in his career when leading going into the 4th quarter, the Cowboys just had to prove him wrong by giving that game to the Reskins.
I think you're WAY safe with the Pittsburgh bet. Baltimore has too many troubles at the Qb position to be any kind of threat right now to a team as good as the Steelers. The Ravens will be lucky to score a touchdown, and that will probably have to be a defensive one. But I can't believe you took Arizona IN Dallas with the Cowboys coming off a heart breaker the week before in Seattle. You just gave your money away there bud. They haven't lost 2 games in a row yet this season, and could easily be 8 - 0 right now if it weren't for a few defensive brainfarts when it came to closing games out. The Eagles are no longer the beast in the NFC east, it's the Cowboys and Giants. And I'm leaning towards the Cowboys.
And did ANYONE, and I mean ANYONE, have the 49'ers beating the Bucs? Holy smokes, sure glad I don't bet on football myself! I mean I know the Bucs were without their starting QB, but so were the niners. It should have been the Cadillac Williams hour! I bet Gruden grinds his teeth in his sleep tonight!

You dont get 9 1/2 points without taking a bad team on the road (Arizona), but I really thought that the Cardinal passing game would give the Cowboys fits.

I lowered the bet from $100 to $50 because I really hate taking bad teams on the road.

Baltimore is also without Ed Reed and Ray Lewis who are the best 2 players on there whole team. Jamal Lewis is averaging 2.8 yards per carry since getting out of prison and hes now facing the Steelers who nobody runs on. I predict 27-3

What were the odds? I think if they played 100 times, TB would win 90
