Iceman5: Cold Case Help

Postby Johnny Hughes » Wed Jan 11, 2006 10:23 am

My great Uncle was a gambler in Dallas in the thirties. He ran backrooms games and may have owed the wrong folks money. He was killed.

It was Archie Blue Lewis, born March 5, 1898 who was done on the streets of Dallas.

The date was December 11, 1937. At the time he was married to his second wife Catherine McGuire and there were children. His twin Brother was named Alvah Claiborne Lewis, who lived until just before grandma died (early 1960s).

He was severely beaten after being called out of a sporting event.

Iceman, would there be any kind of file left on this old cold case. It is an unsolved murder. Johnny Hughes

Heres what I found out Johnny. Apparently back in the 30's, everything was written on acid based paper. The paper had a tendency to disintegrate over time and almost all of the files from that era are unreadable. The ones that arent unreadable were eaten by termites over the years. When you try to pick up a box, the whole thing just crumbles into dust in your hands.....and then there was the flood that detroyed alot of old files.

To make a long story short. The file is gone. Sorry.
