I hate to do it but.....thoughts about Tuan Le

Postby digital scar » Tue May 17, 2005 2:42 am

I realize this discussion might and probably will turn into a shit throwing contest about how bad he sucks and probably belongs in some shitty random forum on 2+2 but....just wondering what some of yout think of Tuan? I know he is on the cover of CP Mag and that he won 2 WPT events ect. ( the next great hype). I would guess most of you have seen him play on the WPT that was on a few weeks ago. Anybody know anything else about this guy? Barry Greenstein seems to think hightly of him (or rather that Tuan read his book, but something tells me Barry G. doesn't need to promote his book by braggig about Le's results) and he doesn't talk up anybody but Phil Ivey so.......

Just wondering if anybody had any thoughts

Also has anybody heard much about Greensteins book? I have read the info on his site about it and he says its gonna be geard towards 400/800 players. Sheeshh.

It seems that the more I learn about poker the more it feels like some type of SAT test that is 80% Math and 20% Psychology. I keep getting this image in my head of an overview of a full table of people playing poker with Algebra books, a calculator and Cliffs Notes books on Pshychology and Sociology. And even though there is a card game going on, it looks like everybody is in a study session. And if the lead breaks in your pencil your done with the test. Don't ask me.

TJ who? Just kidding I love watching him play. When ever he takes a bad beat he is so jaded from so many of them that he just takes it in stride. I wish I could do that as well as he does, but I know I don't.

Yeah about Tuan, I think that if I was up 4.4 million for the year, I would seriously think about quitting poker. The gods have shined down on you and you have recieved maximum benefit from it. Now if Tuan makes it to the WSOP final table then the dude definalty has something figured out. By the way I highly doubt he will make it past day 1.

The WSOP final table this year will certainly be full of people who managed to get really lucky through out the tournament. Not that Raymer or Moneymaker or even Unger for that matter didn't get lucky to win one of those things. You absolutly have to. Just so I'm clear I am not saying anything even remotely close to Unger being lucky. Obviously the guy was on of the best to ever play the game but luck certainly plays a factor in those things. I think that is why I really liked Raymer as a champion more then Moneymaker. Watching the final table with Raymer was very interesting and he was honest about every lucky beat he took and gave. The guy obviously knows alot about poker.

Anyways I'm getting a bit of the topic here. One more quick thing about Tuna Le. In the CP article he said when he first started playing he started at 30/60. Whats up with that? I also think that Michael Mizrachi also said that when he started playing online he started at 5/10. These limits seems a bit high for beginnners but what the heck do I know. Anybody have any thoughs on Mizrachi?

Well, if he started playing 30/60 he must of been from a wealthy family or something like that.

Mizrachi describes playing 5/10 LIMIT poker, which is not a high limt -not to be confused with 5/10 NO LIMIT, which is definitely a high limit game.

I like what I have seen of The Grinder on TV so far. Stoic in defeat and aggressive when in a hand. That one outer Daniel hit on him a couple of weeks ago was sick!
