Considering that Patriot Act had terrorism as its basis, is it suitable that the act is used to prosecute someone for some act of indency?

If the man in question is being charged for threatening serious consequences to the flight attendent then why wasn't he restrained during the flight? Doing nothing until the flight lands safely and then arresting him seems likely the weakest thing to do and also the most pointless.

EDIT - I'd have no problem with these people being hogtied and locked in a microwave after the threats were made while the plane was in the air. To do nothing and then use the Patriot Act in a similar vein that the Safe Port Bill fvcked over internet gambling seems retarded.

there is no way in hell they will serve anywhere near 20 years, the article was simply pointing out that because of the threat made in the air that under the patriot act it is possible they could be charged...its like my college newspaper who reported that during a student senate meeting where a threat was made by one person that he would punch another guy if he didnt get out of his face, they said he could be charged for making "terrorist threats" and another guy could be charged with assault for gripping too hard when shaking his hand...newspapers just like to point out the worst that could happen, it doesnt mean that it will and in this case theres no way they face 20 years, i'd be suprised if they faced any time at all

also im pretty positive they arent charging them using the patriot act for the indeceny, but for the threat made against the flight attendant

and yes molina, i agree that he should have been restrained during the flight, but i have no problem with the arrest once they hit the ground, making threats while in the air is just moronic and anyone who does it deserves to be arrested
AlexMR is a donk.
