I know we have a lot of Bay Area guys on here and yes, the Warriors are probably done now. I found the source of the problem though. Here it is, the night of the 1997 NBA Draft.

8. Golden State Warriors Adonal Foyle
9. Toronto Raptors Tracy McGrady

Can we all shed a tear for this move? I'll do quite a few

It's also fun just to go back through drafts in all sports and see how everyone screwed up. Here's a fun game, which one of these 5 doesn't belong?

1984 Draft
1. Houston Rockets Hakeem Olajuwon
2. Portland Trail Blazers Sam Bowie
3. Chicago Bulls Michael Jordan
4. Dallas Mavericks Sam Perkins
5. Philadelphia 76ers Charles Barkley

I can't beleive Houston didn't take Perkins, they must really be kicking themselves now. Or a decade ago rather. Who is Michael Jordan? I thought he was an outfielder for the white sox.
Boy, you got me confused with a man who repeats himself.

You got to be kidding me! Don't you think this was a little more of a distaster in Golden State Warriors history?

Orlando gets Afernee Hardaway and the Warriors next three out of five first round picks for Chris Webber. He played one season for them, was traded for Gugliatta and draft picks, and later Gugliatta was traded for Donyell Marshall. Ugh.

Don't forget in 1995 we picked up Joe Smith from Maryland...it was like watching a piece of lumber jump. Could have had Kevin Garnett in that one...oops. Maybe we will get him now...

Still, does that really compare to the all time bad move of the NBA, Warriors get Joe Berry Carroll for Kevin Mchale and Robert Parish???

GSW HOOP BABY! Gotta love it. I just watched them tonight too...down 16 at home in the third come back and get a lead, then give it up in the last seconds and get crushed in overtime. It's hard to name a team that is playing worse Bball than them right now...and that includes the Knicks.

Mavericks could of had Charles Barkley there? Guess they underestimated that guy a little too. Doesn't matter though...tall means you move up to the top of the draft because good centers are few and far between. Same reasoning goes behind picking a QB first almost every single footballdraft...only reason not to is that you already got one.

I went to a GSW-Bucks game in Oakland back in 1984. It was banner day. Someone had made a banner that said "Bring the Kings to Sacramento, and professional basketball back to Northern California"

I am pretty sure they had the Parish trade in mind, but GS could have still taken McHale with the 1st overall pick acquired in that trade. Blew that one. Celtics picked him up with the draft pick they got in the Parish trade.

Worst trade in the history of the NBA ever. Unless you are a Celtics fan.

As if this would have mattered, since the Warriors can never hold on to guys for more than 3 years anyway.

Seriously though, I used to be a Warriors fan back in the day - If they played their cards right and fired Don Nelson instead of getting rid of Webber - their starting 5 at one point in the mid-nineties would have been -

C Chris Webber
PF Chris Gatling
SF Chris Mullin
SG MItch Richmond
PG Tim Hardaway

Bench - Latrell Sprewell

They could have put up 150 a night.

D

PS - Dont front on the Gat - he was a nice player and always represented well with the headband, WAY before it was fashionable.
