Fake ID

Postby eDgar » Fri Dec 24, 2004 12:16 pm

Anyone here played in a Casino/Cardclub, before the legal age...using a fake id without any problems?

How servere is the crime for getting caught with a Fake ID? Maybe i shuld ask Ice, since from what I read he is or was a cop.

But i'd like everyones opinion. i'm sick of playing online and can't wait to play live.

I believe it would be considered trespassing since Im sure every casino has signs posted prohibiting entry by underage people. Im sure its a misdemeanor in all states. Its not the crime of the century, but its a crime non the less which very well could get you arrested.

Hang on a sec. I was thinking about the mere fact of entering the casino. Possession of a a fake Id is a whole different charge. In some states its considered falsifying or altering a goventment document which could be a felony depending on where you are.

You can get into the casino and play games (and drink and visit the "ballet") at 19 in Canada.

Maybe you should consider a trip to Vancouver? (Are there any casinos in Vancouver?)

I grew up in Detroit. Windsor was my second home from 19-21. Ah the (dull, blurry, ever-fading) memories!

A few things. First of all, I know that a good portion of casinos (those on indian reservations, among others) are 18 and up, not 21 and up. I'm assuming you are 18+ since you are playing online. I don't know if there are any casinos near Sacramento, but at least in LA there are casinos that are 18 and up. Look into that. Also, if you are gonna play in a 21+ casino, the last thing you wanna do is carry a Fake ID. Most of the security people there are gonna be able to spot a fake from a real ID, so unless you have a real good one it's just not worth it. If you look and act over 21 you should be able to get in and if they ask you for ID just say you forgot it and leave. Worst thing that can happen is that they confiscate your chips. I don't suggest or encourage this but you are old enough and if you decide to just don't make it worse by carrying a fake.

All in all though, I don't think it's worth it. I am barely legal myself and know the feeling of wanting to play in casinos. Stick to home games and online games until you are old enough.

Here in Oregon we have quite a few Native American run casinos. If the card room is part of the casino floor, or you have to get to the card room from the casino floor, then you must be 21 to play. However, a few cardrooms are separated from the casino floor and you only have to be 18 to play at these rooms. I was surprised when I learned this.
