I didn't get to see the game, but the highlights I did see made it look terrible. I relied on Monk telling me that Sol Campbell was a strong central presence, tough on the ball and what not. Then he gets completely owned on that attempted 'tackle' like a child having a lolipop taken form them, not to mention the first disaster. Very disappointing. And to make matters worse, he bitches out and leaves the stadium at half due to 'mental strain'. WTF? Maybe etiquette is different in England, but in the US that guy would be a locker room cancer. Everybody understands that players make mistakes and aren't always on point, but to quit on your team and not even be there to support your teamates on your off nights.... very suspect.
As for Henry, I've started reading some rumblings about him leaving for other clubs next year, as his contracts expiring and Arsenal are semi-struggling. What are the chances he really bolts, sounds like 50-50 to me, which can't be good. As bad as him leaving would be, is re-signing him to the contract I hear (100K a week) going to prohibit them even more? I mean, they're not Chelsea spending wise, so can they afford to keep him and make the moves to strengthen the defense and midfield that are necessary to stay (get back to) prominence?
Yeah, I got to see the ManU game. Great action, tons of scoring. There's something about Rio Ferdinand that rubs me the wrong way, so I enjoyed watching him sent off. There was definitely a no-call offisides on ManU's 3rd goal, but it just served to make the game more interesting. And how about Freidel's save on Rooney from 15 yards?
One last question, Reading is the team that's tearing up the under league right and heading for promotion right? What sort of splash could they make next year?
