I don't get high stakes poker...

I mean honestly... I KNOW we're all used to watching late in tourneys, where people are poooshing K3 and calling with A4... I feel I pretty well understand these concepts, having played a decent amount of deepstack, big MTTs (although certainly not at the levels THESE guys are pooshin around)...

BUT... I'm watching a high stakes NL cash game on GSN right now, and I really honestly have NO IDEA what these guys are doing...

Case in point...

Brunson raises from the button to like 2k (blinds 300/600 I think) w/ A9h... Alaine I think his name is calls w/ 84h... FLOP is 944 2 clubs... Alaine checks, Doyle checks (HUH???)... Turn 8c, Alaine bets, Doyle calls... River crap, Alaine checks, Doyle bets like 10k and Alaine sits there and thinks for a LOOOOOOOOOONG time before he mucks it... And the announcers laud him for what a fabulous laydown he made...

I've been watchin for about 15 minutes, and have seen guys calling raises w/ JTs, 42s

I'm sure they're better than me... But to me their play just looks VERY weird...

Oh sorry... it was late... Either way, I wouldn't exactly consider it a GREAT LAYDOWN... 3 to a flush, a paired board, a PF raiser, and he's sitting there with a pair of friggin 8s... meh...
