Here is an article about marijuana and mental health. I take it with enough salt to impress Lot's wife. The article says marijuana may trigger pychosis in a small number of users.

I smoked a lot of pot in my younger years, if it makes people crazy maybe they arent smoking good enough weed. Most potheads I know relax when they are high, all I did was wanna eat pizza and play video games, if thats crazy than we have a very large population of adolescnt male of crazy people in the US.

I have heard the arguement that smoking weed kills brain cells. Which is of course true but so does pretty much everything in life, inhaling the pollution in the air kills brain cells too. I was told by one neuro bio friends at UCSD that they believe than sniffing one of the markers that smell like different friuts that I used as a kid killed 5 brain cells a whiff.
