Roy, see if you can get reference drivers for your video card(s) from nvidia and ATI. Reference drivers usually don't have the extraneous b.s. that the rebranding mfrs put in (like fancy utilities and other crap). You will have to completely remove all traces of the old drivers of course before you install the refs, but you should be able to find a util for that.
While stock drivers for Nvidia should be here:
http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp - try http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?id=10 for a whole shitload of older driver versions for the 6600.
Go here - http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?id=18 for the comparable drivers for the ATI card.
Good luck, I'm glad I don't go this stuff that much any more, it makes my head hurt.
