Chronology Trivia

Postby Pozzo » Mon Oct 16, 2006 11:33 am

Put these 10 20th century events in chronological order.

Bonus points will be awarded if you correctly cite any of the years.
Do NOT use google or any other internet resource.
The first person to correctly order the events will win, which means he/she will have a chance to earn the respect of the 6 or 7 people who will read this thread.

(In an effort to space out the events I hope I did not make it too easy.. well a few of them should still be tricky.)

-India declares independence from the UK
-Collapse of the Soviet Union
-Richard Nixon resigns
-Nintendo NES first sold in the U.S.
-Martin Luther Kind assassinated
-Theory of General Relativity is published
-Soviets launch Sputnik
-Picasso's Guernica is first exhibited
-Elvis Presley records his first record
-Castro seizes power in Cuba

Bonus event: Xaston's birth.

Go!

.

my thoughts:

I got an NES as a wedding present, and I got married in 1989, so I think the USSR went after that (91?)
Nixon 72
MLK 68
sputnik 60
Castro 59
Elvis 54
Picasso 40s?
Relativity had to be 30s or so
Not sure on India, but I'm guessing '20s (should be easy for the brits)

Sputnik was before the King assassination.
India was a long time ago, wasn't it, like in the 1930s.

-Theory of General Relativity is published -- going to say 1915 or so
-Picasso's Guernica is first exhibited -- 1920s?
-India declares independence from the UK -- 1930s?
-Castro seizes power in Cuba - 1950s
-Elvis Presley records his first record - 1950s
-Soviets launch Sputnik - late 1950s
-Martin Luther King assassinated - April 4, 1968
-Richard Nixon resigns - 1973
Bonus event: Xaston's birth
-Collapse of the Soviet Union - 1989
-Nintendo NES first sold in the U.S. - 1990s I think
