Big Bankroll interest in staking a winning player?

Postby DaveRed » Sat Oct 28, 2006 3:49 pm

I've been reading this site for about a year, and have learned a lot (don't post too much though). I'm up around $20k for '06, playing cash games, 9 person sit & goes and HU matches. I have a pretty good knowledge of poker, I learned from Stelvask (a long time poster here), some of my big wins include a 6th in the $5rebuy ($25k guranteed on stars) for $1300 and first in a 180 person sit & go for $1080. But thats not really relevant, I'm not a big tournament player, I've played 100 total in my life, probably 25 of them seriously.

Where my real skill is cash games, I'm a consistant +4 PTBB/100 hands in $200NL. Not the biggest winrate, but I"m generally playing 8 tables at a time for a nice hourly rate. That and I really don't have too many losing days, since I'm a Tag ABC player. I VERY rarely make bluffs, and keep around a 15% VPIP while using PokerAceHUD to see whats going on with everyone else. I'm fine with bankroll managment, never played a limit I didn't have atleast 20x the max buyin for.

Basically though I've had some tough spots with money, college (and me having an expensive spending habit) is expensive.
Shipping my car from MA to CA -> $1200
Books for the semester --> $500
GPS Tracker stolen from my car -> $600
Visiting my GF over breaks ->$300+ for plane ticket + expenses

And basically I'm on a $1,000/month spending habit. When I heard about that PokerBan, I cashed out all of my money on all my sites to the bank...(that and I had lost $500 that day, a 2+1/2 buyin downswing). Currently in my BankOfAmerica account I have $10,610.62... not counting the $996.19 balance I have on my credit card. So basically I have enough to live comfortably for the next year, and I'll get a job over the summer.

I won a $5 bet from a friend, he sent it to me on PokerStars. I stole blinds at $.10/.25, and played a heads up match. Won that, then did the same for a $10,$20,$20,$50,$100, etc. (Obviously I know this isn't bankroll strategy, I was just messing around), once I hit $500, I figured I had enough to make a bankroll with that. I've been playing a bunch of $15-30 sngs (sharkscope considers me running super hot since I won 7 $33 HU sngs in a row last night). Anyway I'm up to $1k, a sufficient bankroll to play $50NL. School however (being a Math/Computer Sciene major) is taking up most of my free time. I can generally play weekends, and maybe a few hours/week).

Anyway, my $10k is in savings, I have $1k on PokerStars, and I'm playing $50NL, when I know I can beat $200NL. I don't really want to redeposit since I know I can live comfortably on my $10k, and theres no reason for me to risk it. So basically what I'm looking for is someone with a big enough bankroll to stake me $3000, so I have enough to play my regular game. I'll win more than I will at $50NL (4x the stakes, plus $200NL is more fun), and whoever stakes me gets 55% of the winnings. I can't promise to play much (probably only around 3k hands/week when I'm busy). If anyone would be interested send me a PM and we can talk on AIM, obviously you can have me stop if I go on a bad run (I figure for a 3/6 player if I drop 3 buyins, you could just consider this one buyin drop and just cut me), or if I'm +$5k and you just wanna stop after you double your money, thats fine too, just figured it'd be a good deal for anyone with enough money to spare since I'm a pretty consistant winner so this is a good investment.

If nobodys interested, thats fine by me, just figured I'd throw it out there. If anyone has any questions either reply or send me a PM.

Be glad your opponents refuse to fold; if they didn't, you just might go broke.
