Back From Vegas (comedy of errors)

Postby Rhound50 » Sat Mar 26, 2005 12:30 am

Well I am back from Vegas, so I thought I'd post our fun adventure. We left on monday night myself and my brother gooperMc. About half way to Vegas going up the Cajon grade the trasmission starts slipping by the time we pulled over to the side of the road there was smoke coming out from under the engine. We were stuck in the middle of nowhere and my cell phone didn't work. Thankfully there was a call box in walking distance. The AAA tow truck picked got there about 30 min later. We were towed to Pep boys because they were the only place open. to bad Pep boys doesnt do transmissions. So we decided to spend the night at a hotel there and have the car towed to a transmission shop. Turns out the transmission was completely fried, of course we spent most of tuesday waiting around in Hesperia til the trasmission place could figure this out. THe mechanic said they should have the trasmission replaced by thursday so we decided to get a rental car and head to Vegas. So off to Vegas we go in a new car.

Vegas was a lot of fun, lots of good action.

Day 1- Bellagio . This is some of the worst play I have seen at the 2/5NL level. I will post couple of the hands both of us played for anlysis in the NL section. I had a decent night while Gooper ran into one rough hand at the end. Some of the best action, I have seen, I tihnk if I play this game for the rest of my life, I make a ton of money

Day 2 We started at harras, which I was not impressed with, they have a small poker room and only had 1/2 NL. We were able to meet up with TUP a little later that day, which was a blast. We went to the Alladin and I got to play at the same table with himm which was a lot of fun. I really hope he will post some of the poker stories, he told at the table. He has the whole table rolling with laughter. He is a really cool guy, and is a really impressive poker player. I pretty much broke even. We stayed at Imperial palace, so I decided to play there that night. The action was decent but all they had was a 1/2 game.
I was up $150 til I got AA cracked by a moron with J/5 sooted, who called a $30 preflop bet and call off the rest of his stack on the flop after hittinf the J and caught his miracle 5 on the turn to crack my AA. I played til 8am and went to bed.

Day 3- I called the car guy and he said he was pretty sure that he would have the car done by 6pm when they closed, so we headed back to Hesperia, when we got there he told us he was sorry it wouldnt be done til the next morning. So one more night in Hesperia.

Day 4- At 10:30 when the mechanic hadn't called yet, I started to get worried, not much has gone right on this trip so far. So I called the car guy again, turns out the new transmission doesnt work and he wont know for another hour if he can get another one and get it in that day. 1 hour later the news was not good, no transmission til Monday. So we call hertz and see if we can return the rental car in San Diego so we can get home, well we can but it adds $400 to the bill. Thankfully my buddy Mitch, Mitcheze on this site was nice enough to spend 5 hours in the car to get us back to SD. I am glad this we made it home in one piece, though we are going to have to make the trip back to Hesperia sometime next week to pick up the car.

Nice to have good friends isnt it? Thats a big favor to ask someone.

Unfortuntately, when I was in Vegas last (which incidentally was exactly a year ago...last Easter), the power in the Bellagio was out for the whole 4 days we were there so I didnt get to play there. Thats really sucked. I mean, what are the odds of the friggin power going out to the whole hotel when Im there?
