Monk, whenever I have been on a bad run I pick up a new game, which has always worked very well for me. Like you I get bored when I quit poker altogether but I don’t enjoy myself when I am running bad. I hate sitting down to start a session and wondering how this one is going to turn south. It isn’t good for my poker game and it isn’t good for my overall life mindset.

Pickup up a new game means that:
- I am still playing poker and having fun playing
- I have a new intellectual puzzle which is always fun
- Most of the time when I lose it is because I played badly which is somehow refreshing
- The stakes are small enough that the players will be so bad that the game will be easy to beat and the variance will be low. This helps rebuild my confidence.
- The stakes will be low enough that the money really doesn’t matter. When I am running bad and losing lots of money I sometimes saying I really don’t care as a defense mechanism. At these levels you don’t need a defense mechanism because you really don’t care.

Good luck. It will turn around.
Rhound - I got 2 outted in a $2000 pot last year, I have also broke a cup in half playing catcher. The feelings were similar.
