I'm using a samsung 32" LCD that I'm extremely pleased with. Maybe a bit on the large side for your needs but who knows.

Why not just buy another monitor. A 24" dell widescreen is sub 1000$ and will give you better resolution than any LCD or plasma TV on the market. If all you want to do is watch dvd's then another monitor is the perfect solution. If you also want to indulge in tv all you need to do is buy a tv tuner card ~50$ and your PC can take care of all your entertainment needs. I currently have 2~19" lcds and use them for just about everything and my tv tuner card works great. It saves room seeing as being a college student I can't exactly afford much space, It can record shows so I don't miss anything etc. My basic beef with lcd tv's is that their maximum resolutions are so low compared to lcd monitors and the prices are getting to be very similar so why short change yourself on a TV that is single use while a monitor can be used for multiple applications.

1900x1200 resolution which is as good as the highest resolution Tv's you can buy today which are 1080p and cost thousands of dollars.

or just to compare an LCD TV

1366x768 resolution which can't even compare to the monitor for almost 100$ more?

Anyways I'm sure there are applications where the TV is superior, but in my book the monitors are always going to come out on top for their sheer versatility.

LCD >>>>> PLASMA. If you go to the store the LCD looks better and I also was told there is contrast and brightness problems with the PLASMA after a few years.

I saw a dell 26inch and it looked great. I 've also seen SAMSUNG (which I think are exactly the same as the Dell, samsung is the maker) andit look very nice.

For some reason, I wouldnt pay for a pricey Sony.I think it is not worth the huge price.

They do not make plasma's below 42" to my knowledge. So that would not fit into your description of what you're looking for.

As do the plasma vs lcd issue, its all choice. From what I've read, LCD is better in brighter rooms, plasma looks much better in darker rooms where you can control the light.

I wouldn't neccesarily buy into the "I saw it at the store its much better bla bla" argument, as not all stores know how to calibrate their tv's properly. I suggest checking out www.avsforum.com if you're really interested in seeing the differences.

Be glad your opponents refuse to fold; if they didn't, you just might go broke.
