Anyone else take BJJ (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu) classes?

Everything from "Whats the best place to get a sandwich at Bellagio?" to "Damn, Shana Hiatt is FINE!".

I think GOOD martial arts schools are tough to find in many cases. Like many businesses they're $ driven and really learing is tough because the classes tend to be abut an hour or so long and 20 minutes is spent warming up.

When I was in HS I took Tae Kwon Do for several years and then between work and everything else, time got a little sparse for training. What I liked about it it was not a "commercial school" or anything even close. I knew the instructor and he charged me and a handfull of other people peanuts to train out of a dance hall he was able to use from someone he knew. It was basically a way for him to work out with a few guys to keep him in shape while teaching us what he knew.

A few years back I was able to find something similar, again recently my instructor due to personal issues stopped teacing on a regular basis (hopefully he starts teaching regularly again). The school was, at it's roots based in Jeet Kune Do but was geared towards realistic fighting. JKD essentialy works on taking the most effective techniques from all the Martial Arts....using what works and eliminating the rest. Stand up work comes from a large number of fighting systems.

Groundwork was based mostly on BJJ, Judo, and Combat Sambo. If you're able to find a quality place to train I think it's awesome.
