Yet Another AK situation

Postby briachek » Thu Jun 30, 2005 6:13 pm

Villain is loose but doesn't raise without a decent hand and is pretty aggressive postflop.
It just seemed I was splitting this although I could be against AA or AQ but I don't think he would reraise me without at least AK. This seemed to be a hand that would be for my full stack if I continued. It was all in or fold. What do you do?

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $0.5 BB (10 handed)

UTG+1 ($74.65)
UTG+2 ($35)
MP1 ($69.6)
Hero ($103.55)
MP3 ($49.5)
CO ($45)
Button ($49.25)
SB ($46.2)
BB ($55.95)
UTG ($49.5)

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with [Kd], [Ad].
1 fold, UTG+1 raises to $2, 2 folds, Hero calls $2, 5 folds.

Flop: ($4.75) [5s], [2s], [Ah] (2 players)
UTG+1 bets $2, Hero raises to $6, UTG+1 raises to $14, Hero ?????

If the 2 spades werent there, Im pushing all in. I think Im doing it anyway.
I think hes got AK or AQ. The thing that worries me is that it could be [As][Ks] or [As][Qs]

Alot depends on your read here. With no read, Im pushing it in.

It would be very very rare for someone at that level to raise 4BBs UTG1 with 55 or 22.

AK or AQ seems likely but as Ice says he could be freerolling with AKs. I don't know if it is so likely that he plays AQ or just a flushdraw this aggressive that it is +EV to push here. I prefer to have something better than TPTK when pushing.

You said he is loose and raises with decent hands. What are his decent hands? Would he make this raise with any A-paint suited? Or even Axs? I would think he has top pair + flush draw. Any time someone leads weak and comes back over me when I raise, I proceed with caution. I would probably wait for a better spot.

I agree with Stoneberg here. I just don't like to push in this situation. His most likely hand is AK but like you all said he could be freerolling. He could also have AA. And finally there is a slight chance you are dominating AQ but would he really reraise with AQ. I don't think most players would in that case. So you are calling your whole stack hoping you get a split because if you are behind here you have no outs. I don't like it.
