yawn - b&b play

Postby AlamedaMike » Sun Sep 18, 2005 12:33 pm

I wish all my NL hands went like this. :D Simple straight forward and run of the mill.

Full ring table - 9 players

FullTiltPoker Game #222715444: Table Carter - $0.25/$0.50 - No Limit Hold'em - 2005/09/18

Seat 4: AlamedaMike ($45.15)
Seat 9: Fullalove ($63.55)
Fullalove posts the small blind of $0.25

*** HOLE CARDS ***

Dealt to AlamedaMike [Qd] [Kd]

AlamedaMike raises to $1.75, Fullalove calls $1.50

Loose raise. First in. I have a tight table image most fold to my raises. A few play back and fold to a flop bet.

*** FLOP *** Pot $4 - [Th] [2s] [Qs]

Fullalove checks, AlamedaMike bets $4, Fullalove calls $4

I suspect a spade draw.

*** TURN *** Pot $12. [2c]

Fullalove checks,

Here I want to bet enough where a call is wrong but get a call and have him miss. So, I decide on 2/3 pot.

AlamedaMike bets $8, Fullalove calls $8

*** RIVER *** [8d]

Fullalove checks, AlamedaMike checks

I checked because I could see his hand and I do not think he would call me if he was on a spade draw and missed.

*** SHOW DOWN ***

AlamedaMike shows [Qd] [Kd] (two pair, Queens and Twos)

Fullalove mucks - [As] [Js]

AlamedaMike wins the pot ($26.70) with two pair, Queens and Twos

I got lucky that he was on a draw and missed. I had one of his outs to a straight. Any commits oher than the lose raise PF?

your loose raise is fine in the right context. his loose call PF, and his passive play for the rest of the hand are abysmal. if i was in the hand with [As][Js] i would have raised to $15 on the flop and seriously considered pushing all-in on the turn. i think in this situation against a solid player (you) there is a massive amount of fold equity if he can put you on KQ or AQ.

so...yeah. i think you played it fine. i think he played it very poorly.

Thanks - what we like is nice passive players chasing their draws. And, yeah he comes out betting heavy on the flop and I most likely cave in with the King kicker putting him on Ace Queen.
