I know, I know min raises and a weak turn raise. Notwithstanding that, what should Hero do?

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (6 handed)

CO ($46.90)
HERO (Button) ($40.45)
SB ($13.95)
BB ($88)
Villain ($52.95)
MP ($25.10)

Preflop: Hero is OTB with [Ac], [Ks].
Villain raises to $1, 2 folds, Hero raises to $2, SB calls $1.75, BB calls $1.50, Villain calls $1.

Flop: ($8) [Ah], [5d], [Jh] (4 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Villain bets $4, Hero calls $4, SB calls $4, BB folds.

Turn: ($20) [8c] (3 players)
SB checks, Villan checks, Hero bets $5, SB calls $5, Villain calls $5.

River: ($35) [5s] (3 players)
SB checks, Villain bets $23, Hero ???

Ugh... kinda ugly...

Raise PF to about $4...

If he weak leads into you again, bump him up about 4x whatever he bets...

BTP on the turn...

Having read a lot of your posts, I KNOW you can play better than this... You minraised PF, called his weak lead on the flop, giving him and everyone else odds to draw to the flush... 1/4 bet on the turn??? I'm imagining whatever it is you let Villian stay around w/ on the river he hit, and ya gotta fold...

You need to show a LOT more aggression in this hand... Say you stick w/ the minraise... He leads for $4, you bump it to $12-16 to see if he wants to play, or if he's giving himself odds to draw...

Raise more preflop, raise more on the flop, bet more on the turn and you won't find yourself in this situation. You don't have enough information to make an accurate decision here.

Maybe this is one of those trick things where the trodgester is ACTUALLY the villain! Think about THAT!

Villian has a blown flush draw. They love to bet when the board pairs on the river and they missed their flush. Call it.

I agree with the above sentiments. What is this? Raise that flop big and raise the turn if need be.

Worse case you played it your way. I prefer smooth calling preflop and getting busy on smaller pot on the flop or turn with AK that hits. If you bet 15 on the turn you can check down the river. Your aggression gets you a smaller pot with about equal reward when you are ahead, and and easier fold when behind or the guy goes ape at the turn with a re-raise.

I think even raising the flop, checking the turn and check calling the river or betting to a check for 15 works better :(

Can't believe no one else picked up on that...I thought you NL freaks were supposed to be good at reading people! Anyway, yeah I call that river bet everytime! On a related note, trodge, did you ever hear about that time I lost $1300 in one sitting of 100NL? "Freakin genius" he says, lol. :)

Well... I put Hero on either a flush draw or more likely Axs (with his min raise).

I figured AJ has to bet on the flop and certainly the turn to build a pot and drive out a flush chaser.

When the second 5 hit I felt good that he didn't have two pair and I figured I'd rep the 5.

I bet 2/3 of the pot which was an explosion for this hand. He took the full time and called.

I had A[d] Q[d].

He said he almost folded.

Yeah, once you raise UTG and get reraised, that's the time to bail with AQ.

MVP is getting smarter all the time. Must be all the ... never mind.
