JJ with lower cards?

Postby AlamedaMike » Tue Aug 30, 2005 4:40 pm

I was not happy with the way I played this hand.

I had Jacks on the button and the bet to me was $4. I should have raised.

The flop was checked to me and I should have taken a free card. I check and I am only out $4. Jacks are hard to play anyway. I really hate Jacks as overpairs but I feel that they are worth a bet. :?

Maybe an $18 bet and then a fold to his check raise? I dislike that guy anyway. I just beat him in the BB w/2 pair and I think he was pissed.

Especially in raised pots (but in alot of unraised pots also), when someone check raises the minimum like he did here, he is going to fire a big bet at the turn (like he did here). Dont call the min raise unless you are willing to call the inevitable big turn bet.

That 3 didnt help him, so either you were beat already and shouldve folded or hes bluffing and you have the winner.

Dont call the min raise to see what he does next. I can tell you what hes going to do next. Hes going to fire a large turn bet 95% of the time.

Ice, I'm still a bit unclear. Are you saying that he should either

1. Check the Flop
-which obviously isn't bad if you know you are behind

or

2.Bet the Flop and fold to any kind of playback at him

Is there any other way to play this hand?

I agree Alam, Jacks are tricky in situiations like this.

You are rigth, Iceman.

If I call the check raise I have to go all the way else fold to the CR. Since I had only one pair it was dicey if I had the best hand or not. I think he was bluffing but not sure.

I will check my PT for him.

Thanks

I would bet the flop after everyone checks, but once I get check raised the min, Im folding. Ive continued with hands like these so many times and lost almost all of them, that I already know whats going to happen before it does.

Like I said, hes going to blast the turn every time and unless you want to pay with your whole stack to see if hes bluffing or not, you need to just fold to the check raise.

A min check raise in a raised pot is a sure sign that you are beat.

Thanks I will remember that. Maybe that is why I get called. I check raise the pot, they think I am bluffing and call me.
