Whould you bet the turn?

Postby AlamedaMike » Fri Sep 02, 2005 11:59 am

I am not fond of AQ and calling a raise was a bit loose. But, being that I did and the flop was pretty good are you betting the Turn here?

FullTiltPoker Game #204743461: Table Convention Center - $1/$2 - No Limit Hold'em - 13:28:55 ET - 2005/09/02

Seat 6: evilC ($301.35)
Seat 7: STRUGGLE ($52.50)
Seat 8: AFD92 ($201.80)
Seat 9: Rebuy Bob ($80)
AFD92 posts the small blind of $1
Rebuy Bob posts the big blind of $2
The button is in seat #7

*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to AlamedaMike [Qs] [Ah]

AlamedaMike calls $2, KMart1031 raises to $5, 7 folds

AlamedaMike calls $3

*** FLOP *** [3d] [9d] [Qh]

AlamedaMike bets $13, KMart1031 calls $13

He called my bet. What kind of hand does have? There are 2 diamonds. Maybe he has [Ad] [Kd] or [Ad] [Jd] - with a [Qd] he might raise me?

*** TURN *** [2s]

I whimped out here and checked with a plan to at least call. Never give a free card to a possible drawing hand.

AlamedaMike checks, KMart1031 checks

*** RIVER *** [Jh]

Damn, if he had [Js] [Jd] then I am screwed blue and tatooed yellow.

AlamedaMike bets $22

KMart1031 has 15 seconds left to act, KMart1031 calls $22

If I bet the Turn do you think he would have called me? I think that I missed a bet here.

*** SHOW DOWN ***

AlamedaMike shows [Qs] [Ah] (a pair of Queens)

AlamedaMike wins  I am lucky that I won this hand - I should have never called this raise out of position. Bad Poker.

brownie points for guessing his hand.

Token and Iceman were closest (flush draw) - I said I was lucky to win because he had [Ad] [Jd] and I gave him a free card for a flush draw. A [d] on the river and I am dead meat.

I did have his hand dominated except for the flush possibility. An Ace on the river instead of a [Jh] and he might have given me more of his chips.

My check on the Turn induced him to call my river bet.

A bet on the Turn and a call - he is folding the river.

As Iceman said he did not raise me on the flop so I should consider my hand the best and bet the Turn. With 2 [d] if he had a hand that could beat top pair then he should have raised me on the flop.

The site gives you 15 seconds to make up your mind. That is why reviewing the hands on this forum is GREAT.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Uh, brownie points are really not worth much - but nice try. Yes, his play is consistent with KQ as well as AJs - I think.
