Whatya Think of These Pushes --(Yikes its Fold Equity)

Postby T-Rod » Thu Sep 08, 2005 7:39 am

Please ignore the fact that its $25NL Party (which I know has very little Fold Equity). I'm really "practicing" while clearing the turbo bonus on Empire.

I definitely think I misplayed 1 of them.

Hand 1--
Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (9 handed)
saw flop|saw showdown

UTG+1 ($27.10)
MP1 ($24.08)
MP2 ($19.04)
MP3 ($29.35)
CO ($31.50)
Button ($24.65)
Hero ($26.77)
BB ($24.50)
UTG ($9.05)

Preflop: Hero is SB with [Ah], [Jh]. Hero posts a blind of $0.10.
4 folds, MP3 calls $0.25, CO raises to $1.1, 1 fold, Hero (poster) calls $1, 1 fold, MP3 calls $0.85.

Flop: ($3.55) [As], [5h], [7h] (3 players)
Hero checks, MP3 checks, CO bets $3.4, Hero raises $26.77 (All-In),

-------------------------------------

Hand 2

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (10 handed)
saw flop|saw showdown

UTG+2 ($40.15)
MP1 ($4.78)
MP2 ($30.30)
MP3 ($10.90)
Hero ($24.15)
Button ($46.09)
SB ($4.70)
BB ($22.15)
UTG ($24.35)
UTG+1 ($31.20)

Preflop: Hero is CO with [Qh], [Jh]. SB posts a blind of $0.10.
2 folds, UTG+2 calls $0.25, 3 folds, Hero calls $0.25, Button calls $0.25, 1 fold, BB checks.

Flop: ($1.10) [Qs], [8h], [Kh] (4 players)
BB checks, UTG+2 checks, Hero bets $1, Button folds, BB folds, UTG+2 raises to $3, Hero raises all in $22.90

Hand number 1 I like alot. But with hand number 2 there are just too many hands you are behinf including a bigger flush draw. You already know that $25NL is not the place to practice this. So I was just curious why you are trying it there?? You don't really need to "practice". You know when to make these moves. If you wanna practice I thik maybe you should try it against oponents that will fold. This way your results will not be swayed. You can get a truer reading of what to expect.

I make the push with nut flush draws and overcards a lot (helps give me an 'action' image'). When I have top pair as well I'm often happy to play it slower (though here you have to be worried about AK or AQ so I quite like the push)

I don't like 2 at all - no nut flush draw and no overcards..

Good points guys. I do agree about the all in might actually reduce fold equity.

Hand 1-- After a long wait, he called. Turn A[d]. River K[h]. Made the flush but he had AK for a boat.

Hand2--- Yuck. That was a dumb move be me. He called with limped AA and I didn't improve.

Interesting that neither had any flush draw posibility and really only had TPTK when they called.
