What do u do on the turn??

Postby Zuccala » Fri Oct 21, 2005 11:46 am

I usually always lead into the raiser with a set, especially when there is an action card on the flop. Now when the PFR calls, what is ur usually turn action?? I like to lead with a full size pot bet/ However, I am starting to doublt my play here.

Also when I lead into a raiser with a set on the flop and he raises it, I usually push, however sometimes i call and then get it al in on the turn. Any other opinion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I sometimes check the turn if he calls the full pot bet on the flop. If he is willing to throw make that bet, I feel confident he wil bet the turn when you show weakness and check it. Or maybe make a small bet on the turn as if you didn't like the turn card, something that he might want to raise.

On the other hand, trying to gain the appearance of a muppet might work too, so making a smaller bet on the flop to a preflop raiser(a bet BEGGING for a raise) might be worth it if you think the guy will raise your flop bet. It will get some more money into the pot and hopefully when you push, he won't be able to get away.

I don't like the check/call because it doesn't build the pot enough or CR on the flop b/c it might tip the other player off to how strong your hand is.

Either way, I liked what one person said on this forum(although I can't quote anyone b/c the guy who said it wasn't sure about who said it and I can't remember that other guys name), "In order to win a big pot, you need to build a big pot." So, betting is never really wrong in this situation.

This is very dependant on how agressive the preflop raisor is. If I think he will bet I will check raise but I only do this with very agressive players or in a deep stacked game where I am willing to take a little risk to build a big pot. I will normally lead the turn again, if he is chasing his Ak or AQ and made no pair he is just going to check behind anyways and you dont give a draw a chance to get there for free.

Don't lose your entire stack in an unraised pot or with only one pair.
