What should I have done with my kings?

Postby GodlikeRoy » Sun Aug 14, 2005 3:16 am

NL50 @ Party. Villian is UTG and has $35, i'm UTG+1 and have him covered. My read on him is that he's fairly LAG, but in a smart way.

Hero is dealt [Ks] [Kd]

Villian raises to $1. Hero raises to $4. It folds back around to the Villian who just calls.

Pot is ~$9 and the Flop brings [4s] [2d] [Ts]. Villian checks, Hero bets $5 (too small?), Villian CR's all in. Hero folds (??).

What do I do in this position? I think I should've bet harder on the flop, perhaps $10, as the only hand I can think of that beats me is TT.

Thoughts? Comments?

Yeah, with a flush draw out there, a pot sized bet is better.

I like your fold here. It looks like he read you perfectly (which is easy to do if you're a tight ABC player). He made a set, put you on a big pair, and hoped you wouldn't be able to let go of your hand.

I think the bet on the flop should be bigger. I would say bet the size of the pot. Yes, you are probaby looking at TT.
