If it's "interesting," then the button could well have 53s. I suppose with [5d][3d] this qualifies as a monster draw. He bets his gutshot on the flop, then lucks out and hits the nut hand and gets it all-in on the turn.

SB had a set of some kind. I'm going to go with a set of 6s, because he thought about it: a set of jacks wouldn't hesitate much.

Just a wild guess.

EDIT: Ooh, I bet I'm right. I just saw what you said about "no bad plays except for the preflop call by the button" -- he must have had 53.

k3nt - you are really close. i might as well say it right now.

First, before i get a rash of posts calling the players involved complete fishes, this is a very very loose aggressive no limit game. Players are unafraid to act on their hands if they believe they are good in a situation.

First off , the small blind. He had J10. He correctly read the pot-sized bet by the button as either a steal or a draw bet, thus the check raise.

The button had 2 3 diamonds. He hit a pair and a flush draw on the flop, and decided to smooth call the check raise.

The turn play is where I disagree with my friend. The button picks up a gutshot, but raising 3x the SB's bet when an apparant blank came off is not a very good play. The SB read this bet as another steal, and pushed all in. With around 900 in the pot and around 300 to call, the button was getting 3-1 odds to hit two pair, a straight, or the flush by the river. He was only a 3-2 dog, so his call was easy. He won the hand with 3's up (isn't that dirty to say??).

Anyway I thought it was stellar play by the SB, at least. It takes balls to push all your chips in with top pair no kicker. The button, a little questionable on the turn. Either push all in or smooth call.

Just some food for thought.

Long... I'm not sure how you think this was "stellar" play by the SB... I'll give you that it was ballsy... First, I would've bet the flop... but he checkraised w/ TPNK, trying to represent AA or KK...? Then, when he bet out the turn and got raised 3x, I DEFINITELY would've folded... you did say it was a LAG game, and I don't play LAG, but I don't really think either of them should've been in the hand...
