Two Tales of Two Kings (Need Your Help)

Postby LottaFagina » Tue Aug 30, 2005 6:16 am

I've really been conscious (scared money?) lately of getting action on my KK/AA. Seems like I'm getting beaten by hidden 2 pairs, sets and flopped QTo/KJo straights. There's a fine line between playing very smart and playing w/scared money. (Right?)

Here are 2 hands. Please comment. I'll post the results of the 2nd hand after a few responses.

UTG Villain here has 119 hands, VP$IP: 7%, PFR: 5%. These #s are after playing with him longer. When the hand happened, I think he was around 5% VP$IP/2%PFR.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ Hero (10 handed)

CO ($50)
Button ($45.15)
SB ($60.90)
Hero ($46.25)
UTG ($53.60)
UTG+1 ($28.50)
UTG+2 ($32.65)
MP1 ($105.63)
MP2 ($44.05)
MP3 ($41.10)

Preflop: Hero is BB with [Kc], [Kh]. CO posts a blind of $0.50. SB posts a blind of $0.25.
UTG raises to $1.5, 3 folds, MP2 raises to $4, 4 folds, Hero calls $3.50, UTG calls $52.10 (All-In), MP2 calls $40.05 (All-In), Hero folds.

Seeing UTG actually raise scared me to start with. I probably should have folded the $3.50 call, but with 2 people in the hand was hoping to hit a K high flop and destroy them both. Once UTG went all-in, I knew I had to lay down. Right?

Flop: ($102.40) [7c], [7h], [3c] (2 players, 2 all-in)

Turn: ($102.40) [2h] (2 players, 2 all-in)

River: ($102.40) [7s] (2 players, 2 all-in)

Final Pot: $102.40

Results in white below:
UTG has Ad As (full house, sevens full of aces).
MP2 has Td Ts (full house, sevens full of tens).
Outcome: UTG wins $101.15.

Now this is the important hand, which actually occurred first in the day. Including subsequent play, saw 77 hands with villian, VP$IP: 15%, 3.0% PFR.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (10 handed)

UTG+1 ($53.30)
UTG+2 ($17.65)
MP1 ($43.35)
MP2 ($50)
MP3 ($51.55)
CO ($75.30)
Button ($49.50)
Hero ($49.50)
BB ($68.30)
UTG ($10.80)

Preflop: Hero is SB with [Kd], [Kc]. Hero posts a blind of $0.25.
1 fold, UTG+1 calls $0.50, 5 folds, Button calls $0.50, Hero (poster) raises to $1.75, 1 fold, UTG+1 calls $1.50, Button calls $1.50.

Flop: ($6.50) [8h], [Jh], [8s] (3 players)
Hero bets $5.8, UTG+1 calls $5.80, Button folds.

Turn: ($18.10) [9s] (2 players)
Hero bets $16.95, UTG+1 calls $45.50 (All-In), Hero folds.

I only have 30 seconds before I get auto-folded, so I'm wondering what beats me that would call previous my action and would push in here. Does he WANT me to call or not? AA, JJ, 99 and 88 are all that I can come up with. I don't like the paired board with straightable possibilities, but I can't see him calling my PFR with QT or 89s. But he came over the top so much, it's just screaming out monster.

I folded and he showed. What would you do and what do you think he had?

Hey guys, my first post here so be gentle.

First hand is a pretty easy fold for me. What else could he have but Aces.

Second hand is definately a little harder. I would have probably raised a little more preflop. Maybe $2.00 to 2.50, but that would probably not make any difference in this case.
That flop absolutly sucks for you and I would want to find out immediately where I am with a $12 to $15 bet. If he calls he is probably on a draw or playing a set very badly. If he reraises I am pushing it all in on the flop putting him on AJ of spades.

I know its super dangerous but I just can't Imagine that I am getting away from this hand.

I only PFR small b/c I hadn't been getting any action no my $2-2.50 raises. Now I get action and am a puss.

Rev nailed it, but clubs. UTG+1 shows [ Jc, Ac ] two pairs, jacks and eights.

I should have pushed all-in on the flop. If he's got AA or JJ then I'm beat, otherwise I will hopefully get a caller from TP and stack him. Otherwise, he should fold. He shouldn't be playing other hands.

Stupid self.

I am not saying that I would never fold here but with his stats I would put him on big cards, and AA would have reraised preflop (I hope).

If he was play alot more hands I would probably fold...... Nah, who am I kidding, I am all in here, I just can't help myself. :P

It's always easier to say "I would have been all in" after you see the hand history.
