trying to deal with a losing streak

Postby ua1176 » Tue Aug 09, 2005 1:44 pm

over the past few months....my poker playing has improved a lot, in my opinion. i've been playing tighter, more aggressively, using position better, and my reads have gotten way better. but my win rate is steadily going down.

it seems like the past few weeks i have trouble getting anything to happen. i've run into set over set twice, had a couple sets lose to flopped straights, been hit with some crazy suckouts. made a few stupid calls. and i've been losing money on my top-pair hands too. and i've made a few monsters...but gotten no action.

i'm just confused because i think that my play is improving...but maybe i'm missing something. i've dropped more than 10% of my bankroll in the past few days. every session starts with a big losing hand and i spend the next few hours just trying to make some of it back.

is this just luck evening itself out? or is there maybe something that i'm doing wrong and not seeing? thanks for your help,

jon
