why

I don't see why this is a hard laydown against the right player.

There are I would say 3 people where i play 1-2NL that I would lay down the KK and to these 3 people it would be an easy laydown. To anyone else I'll pay off.

The only other possible hand that a player like this (ice) has is KK, and I allready have 2 of the Kings. As I think Cloutier says in his book, "it's not AK here, it's aces"

I have folded KK maybe 3 times preflop in cash games and I think it was the right move every time.

As someone who has been advocating this laydown for a while, I should note here that I don't think I've ever laid down KK PF (I guess I'm really just trying to convince myself to make it).

But I do think that this laydown is one of those plays that separates those merely beating the tables from those crushing the tables.

rd: Against anyone who even thinks about moving in with AQ there (note that in ice's example, you're the last caller) or calling your all-in with AQ, then there's absolutely no question about pushing KK all the way. Regardless of factual results, you're something like a 75-25 favorite against anything but AA. So, I do see where you're coming from there.

[quote="AlexMR"]The only way I am not calling if I have reads on someone only raising 0.0045%. that would be aces I think.

This isn't just a raise, this is the 3rd raise. The 3rd raise preflop by a TAG is usually AA or KK, and even KK is often just called here. If I fold and am wrong, I can updated my notes as droqqa said (that was a great point about knowing you'll see his hand). Nice post, Ice.

Yeah, I agree. I'm going to post a hand like this where I (finally) busted this guy who had been asking for it for the last 4 sessions.

If you're going to raise, telegraphing your hand by raising quantities is absolutely horrible.

A very common telegraph among tournament players going for ring games: Raise big (like $50 in my 2/5) game on hands like 66-88. My plan is to re-raise them to $150 or so on JJ-AA or AK, but I haven't really had the right opportunity yet. There's only one player, actually, with whom I have complete confidence in this read, so it's a little difficult. Others do it a lot, but they also mix it up once in a while and throw in the same raise often on AA (against those, re-raising AK becomes a lot more attractive, but it's a bit more risky with JJ).
