$2/$4 NL at Gaming Club

1 limper to me and I raise to $20 with JJ. Only the limper calls. This guy has an idiot factor of 8. 1 being straightforward player and 10 being as dumb as Patrick from Spongebob.

Pot is $46. The flop is T77 rainbow. He checks and I bet $30. He calls.
Pot is $106. The turn is an 8. He leads out for $20. I raise to $75 and he goes all in. Its $247 to me. The pot is now $448.

Call or fold? Even though the guy is bad, this board doesnt look great to me.

He could have QQ, KK or AA....very doubtful
He could have TT..........very possible
He could have a 7.........possible with this guy
He could have a 9.........possible with this guy (could be 98s..could be just a 9 like K9 or something)

Hes very loose and bets alot of flops.

Thats an easy laydown for me...That board looks really scary for JJ and Im all for raising and betting an overpair, but when I get re-raised i usually let them go. seeing as how on this board he most likely already has trips or the boat, i'd let JJ go and wait for another hand so i could break the guy. But JJ is not a hand Im willing to go broke with.

what ended up happening

I think his reraise was the answer about the quality of his hand.

I'd fold...but if he showed soemthing like 98...I wouldn't lose sleep over it. You'll get him next time.

The way you listed his range of hands it seems like a very easy fold. Sometimes I have trouble folding hands against morons but this does seem like a spot to do it without regrets.

I think I probably shouldve folded but couldnt do it against this guy. I called and he had J8. My hand held up.

Sounds to me like you need to adjust his idiot factor a little more to the right...

I can definitely understand raising on the turn as you need to protect yourself from an overcard coming off but I think there may be an argument for just smooth calling here. After all, you only have one pair (well, 2 with the community pair but I dont count it) and I would think you would want to keep the pot small. Looks like a good place to just smooth call and let him come at ya again on the river. Maybe you need aces or kings to smooth call here because of the overcard problem but I am not really sure.
If everybody was able to make a living off of their hobbies the world would be a much better place.

I think the best play normally would be to raise the turn and fold to big reraise. Thats what I wouldve done against a good player anyway.
