I thought it was time to let go my set...

Postby AlexMR » Sun Aug 07, 2005 8:30 am

This was yesterday.

Absolute Poker. NL $0.50BB.

I am UTG with [2d], [2h] ($48) and limp in. Two more limpers to the button, who raises to 2.5 (stack $65). SB folds. BB ($29) calls. I call. All other limpers call.

FLOP. Around $12. [6d], [4d], [2s]. Checked to the button, who bets $5. BB folds. I raise to $14 (there were too many players on the flop and I thought someone could be drawing the flush). MP ($84) thinks for a while and reraises to $30. . It was folded to me. After that raise I was pretty confident that he had a set.

That was the only reasonable hand he could have,( or maybe the flush draw? could he be in the brunson move? ) but I said to myself once that everytime I felt that I was beat in a set over set, I should call anyway, knowing that in the long run the sets are going to be in the + side. I know this isnt correct (if I have excellents reads) but I have folded sets in similar situations just to see overpairs get the pot. I didnt have reads on the guy. There was only six or seven dollars more to be all in, so I pushed.

He calls and showed..... [3s],[5h] The turn or river didnt improved my hand and he took around $97.

I saw it could be. But I didnt think it was possible in a raised pot and against so many players. After the comments and jokes about him on the table (other players, not me) he said that he can show a profit on marginal hands like those because people is not expecting them.

Would you have folded with no reads?

Alex,

There is not way I fold this. Granted from my little exprience at Absolute the players do see a lot tighter than on empire, I am getting it all in on this hand too. He could have AK, AQ, AJ, hell Ax and still do this with the flush draw. I think you played it just fine.

Oh and make a note that this tard will play 3 5 in a raised pot.
