Is this considered a bad fold?

Postby mecha » Tue Aug 30, 2005 1:41 pm

Villan is a decent player. Should I be calling the river in the hand below?

I only make it to showdown about 15% of the time and win at showdown about 56%.

I think the possible reasons are:
1. Playing overaggressively my big hands
2. Playing overaggressively my ok hands
3. Getting bluffed or pushed out of a lot of pots
4. Have a tight image, people are folding

What do u guys think of this hand and the reasons for low showdown percentage?

Hell no that's not a bad fold... You bet pot w/ middle pair and got called... = he's probably got TOP pair... THEN, the low card paird the turn... I'd be runnin from that hand like a hooker w/ a rash...

Yea you fired at the pot twice and got called both times. Then he senses weakness and fires back on the river. Fold here, if he likes checking/calling sooner or later he'll let you draw out and you can play it the same way. Then check/raise the river.
“The real things to know is that folks will stand to lose more than they will to win. That’s the most important percentage there is. I mean, if they lose, they’re willin’ to lose everything. If they win, they’re usually satisfied to win enough to pay for dinner and a show. The best gamblers know that.” - Pug Pearson
