I think he is stupid?

Postby AlamedaMike » Mon Sep 19, 2005 8:50 pm

I don't like to characterize players in a negative manner but to go all in to win $8 seems like a dumb play unless he has set of Queens and afraid of the flush. Even then that is a bad why to play the hand IMO. He is only get called by [As] [Qs] or a set of Queens.

Any idea what kind of hand he might have had?

Of course I folded.

It looks like 99 or 77, but could be KK.

I get called here frequently when I make the same monkey move with either of those three.

Well,

I tried an all-move with the nuts or close to and I seldom get called. I guess if he had a set he was not going to take a chance that I had spades and out draw him cheaply.

If I were him and hit a set I would want to raise less to get a call and give the preflop raiser bad odds to call.

Me folding to his all in is probably the correct play and he is the one making the mistake here. If he is bluffing then it is a good bluff.

Thanks

Mike... If Im in your shoes... and I often am... I don't CARE what he has... I'm not calling that w/ TPTK... If he has KQ or some other godawful pushing hand, so be it... If he's bluffing, it'll catch up with him, and so be it...

The ONLY way I'm calling that is if I have trips or better, MAYBE [As] [Qs] ... Don't fall in love with your hand, as is VERY easy in NL w/ TPTK...

This looks like A[s] x[s] to me.

It's fold equity.
