Prima 1/2

I think this hand was my only mistake of the near 4 hour session.

Dealt [Ad][Ks] in MP1. UTG limps, I raise to $10. Two LP guys call and limper folds.

FLOP $35 (3 handed)
[Kd][9d][2c]

I bet $25. Guy after me raises to $50 quickly. Other guy folds back to me.

My first instinct screams...get out! get out!! My notes even say the guy is a calling station. But then my second instinct says...no wait...he might have KQ. So I call like a moron.

TURN $135
[Kd][9d][2c][9h]

Well that pretty much rules out pocket 9's right? I check. Opponent bets $42...I call because I think my holdings have improved, and plus i'm a moron.

RIVER $219
[Kd][9d][2c][9h][7h]

I check. Opponent checks. He shows AA and takes it down.

I'm a lucky bastard because he didn't bet that river. If I were in his shoes..I'd bet that river everytime and twice on days I hook up with Tightwad's sister.

There's a couple of key points here.

1. Like Cloutier says...always follow your first instinct. All your poker knowlegde comes through in that instant. Everything else that comes after is doubts and dreams.

2. He raised quickly and small. Screams power.

3. A calling station raised me. Screams power.

4. I'm a fool.

Kenny, your conclusion #4 contradicts #1 through #3. A fool wouldn't be analyzing this stuff.

Awesome to have notes that he's a station.

It's always hard to fold to just one bet, isn't it? "I was sure I was ahead just one second ago, and now I'm behind?" It's tough to make that mental adjustment quickly enough to hit "fold."

Question wise ones,

If you were Mr. AA in the hand above, how much would you have bet the river? Do you figure kenny on a paird K and the 9s are no factor?

With Kenny's passive behavior, I definitely do not put him on a hand that can beat AA. I bet $50 because I know he can't fold to 1/4 pot.

Kenny,

I never called aggression from a calling station. They only bet monsters, thats why he didnt bet the river, because he was afraid of two pair or so many things that have him beat. Last night I played like the awful player I am  and called a Calling station with AF of 0.78 when he flopped quads to the river. Called a ROCK all in with TT preflop. Sometimes we are just giving away our hard earned money!

You did misplay it, but you lost less than 1/2 a stack with AK vs AA with a flopped K. thats not that bad at all, although he was giving you the clue to get out even cheaper.
