The preflop min reraise

Postby briachek » Tue Aug 02, 2005 9:04 pm

I love people that do this with big hands. I raise and they min reraise. Unless I've seen them do it before, this just screams of AA or KK. These guys just seem to want to give you their stacks too if you hit.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (10 handed)

MP2 ($97.43)
MP3 ($137.78)
CO ($51.02)
Button ($83.70)
SB ($123.43)
BB ($327.05)
UTG ($100)
UTG+1 ($82.05)
UTG+2 ($62.70)
Hero ($100)

Preflop: Hero is MP1 with [Kh], [Kd]. SB posts a blind of $0.50.
3 folds, Hero raises to $4, 3 folds, Button raises to $7, 2 folds, Hero calls $3.

Flop: ($15.50) [4c], [Ks], [7c] (2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets $15, Hero raises to $40, Button raises to $65, Hero raises to $90, Button calls $11.70 (All-In).

Turn: ($182.20) [Th] (2 players, 1 all-in)

River: ($182.20) [5s] (2 players, 1 all-in)

Final Pot: $182.20

Results in white below:
Hero has Kh Kd (three of a kind, kings).
Button has Ad Ac (one pair, aces).
Outcome: Hero wins $182.20.

About time to see things go my way Hope this helps people be observant of this and why min raising is so often worse than just calling. I got lucky this time but if I didn't hit the King, he could have had a lot of money if he just raised normally or called preflop. Plus, I'm happy to finally be on the winning side of one of these.
