Not played much recently (other things to do in high summer with 14 month old and heavily pregnant wife) but I have been playing very badly in the last 6 weeks.

My bankroll is static at about $7000 and this is despite clearing about $550 in bonuses so I've actually been playing losing poker on PT for the first time in about a year. BY now I figured to be at £10,000 and playing the $200 tables - not going backwards on the $100's and $50's..

I've mixed it up too - I've played $25, $50, $100 and $200 tables and at full ring and 6 max at various sites - worst results at PS, best at Crypto but overall just too much rushing and making fancy plays against players who just call me down regardless.

Really my loss of form is tied to buying a fancy laptop and coming downstairs to play in the living room where previously I was alone in my study...

I think I need basic discipline...and wonder if it's worth really having a go at getting to grips with 6 max - as I think that is where the big no limit action is going to be in the future..

anyone else stuck in a summer rut?

July was a brutal month for me, but I pulled out in the black since I did some 'teaching' to some friends/colleagues that wanted to be able to hold their own in home games...

I found that going through that experience really helped MY game too since I had to actually sit down and consolidate my thoughts on various topics...so, August is off to a good start making my normal $50/hr on the $100 NL tables.

6 max is totally where the money is, but the swings are bigger since you'll have guys calling pot sized bets with 2nd or 3rd pair and you have to really watch out for the check raises when they get lucky and hit two pair.

Never use "pregnant wife" and "heavy" in the same sentence. Its very -EV if she hears you.

Youre probably just plateauing (that cant be how that is spelled). You might want to move down a level for a week, play ABC and then move back up. Sounds dumb but it has worked for me in the past.
