Someone beat me to the punch...

Postby MVPSPORTS » Tue Sep 13, 2005 7:17 pm

I was all ready to reraise w/ my OESFD, as I have been instructed by the BTP "great ones" (hell, it cost Kenny $10 for me to call him a great one :D )... But, this jackball beat me to the punch, and got me all stumped... What should I have done here... Pushed...? Called the flop and see what comes on the turn...?
I think I played this like a total monkey...

Gotta call 39 to win 64.

Give yourself the full 15 outs.

Lose 39 31 times
win 64 15 times

Nope, that's a fold, even with all your outs which I'm sure you don't have because he has a set.

You can push the flop if you want to take your coinflip. But why do that?

If you call the flop, you have to think you're only going to have the one chance to catch your card. You're calling 10 to win 25, plus you have huge implied odds if you catch your straight (or if you catch your straight flush and then he boats up on the river). So the flop call is good.

I think you played it fine. Unless you called the turn bet.

I think I play it just like you. Im not reraising the flop unless I know the guy knows how to fold. And if I do reraise, it has to be all in.

Agree with MVP: QJ guy did not play it well.

If I were MVP and I had flopped, say, 2 pair or a set there, I'm going to be fine flat calling that flop because of all the money that has already gone into the pot. QJ guy did my betting for me, and pushed out most draws. Then QJ guy pushes the rest of his money for me on the turn with TP only. Sweet.
