First of all, just as background: July was a really good month, where I was up over $4,000. August, however, was a really bad one, where I was down around $2,000 for the month.
Part of this may have had to do with some scheduling changes. During July, I just drove from my house to the casino whenever I wanted to play (which is pretty often!). In August, the casino where I'm now playing is far enough away that I thought I'd try just checking into the casino hotel and then playing for 3 straight days.
I really didn't like this very much. I feel cooped up in the building and suddenly "obligated" to play. Also, I've noticed that if I play several days back to back, I'm just mentally completely drained for several days.
So, I decided to go every other day as a general rule, and I'm usually feeling pretty refreshed after a day of rest.
Then there's the issue of session length. Actually, the early afternoon game isn't bad at this place, and the 2/5 table usually opens just after noon. Also, I've noticed that it really takes me a few hours to get fully into the game and have detailed reads on various players. So, I feel like it's an advantage to play quite a long time. But it's also important to be fresh at the start, and I have trouble staying fully concentrated for more than 8 hours, which B&M is only about 200 hands (generally just one set for the session if you figure every 141 hands, also one AA).
So, I'd like to get myself up to a full 12 hours of solid play. I think the main trick is just to be rested the night before. If I'm not, then back down to 8.
Anyhow, 12 hours should be about 300 hands, making 2 sets. And it gives me time to completely immerse myself in the game as it develops.
