I found myself in an interesting position today holding pocket eights.

Sunbob: [8h] [8d]

Pre-flop:

mrmeaner calls. Spharticus calls. Sunbob calls.
RAW39 goes all-in for $1.40. DallasFats folds.
greenacres13 folds. jewelcard folds. DrFlopacet
calls. DA WBT folds. mrmeaner calls. Spharticus
calls. Sunbob calls.

Normally I would fold this preflop. I have about 40 hands on Villian and this is only the second time he has raised preflop. I figured him for a pair higher than mine. But then I get 3 callers ahead of me. I figure I'm getting better than 4:1 to call with implied odds against any one of three others if I hit.

What do you guys think? Good gamble/bad gamble. I know I'm taking a shot here.

I call that all the time. You have three callers and it s likely that you already have the best hand. If you hit you could do very nice.

IMHO implied odds warrants that call.

Excellent gamble. Always call anytime u can get implied odds of at least 8-1 by the river. This is a play u should ALWAYS make as long as the raiser has 8x-10x the raise in his stack. Cause u hit a set.......u may stack him. Either u hit a set..or..u..fold. PERIOD. Alot of guys with KK and AA have a hard time laying them down. They wont see u coming!! I would also make this play with sc's 45.67.78.89 etc. HUGE IMPLIED ODDS HERE!!

I definetely call $1.15 there, you have one guy who covers you and two guys with almost full buy ins that are going to be in the pot with you, good chance to double or even triple up if you hit a nice flop. Huge implied odds makes this an easy call since you close the action. Had you been sitting right after the guy who pushed you could have made a good case for folding it.

I normally go with the 5% rule, meaning I'll call with a low PP (22-JJ) if the raise is less than 5% of my or my opponents stack (whichever is smallest), in this case the raise is a tad bigger but you have 3 juicy opponents which definetely outweighs that. I'm not putting in another cent unless I hit a set or a great draw with nice odds though, not going to pay to see if a pair of 8's are good. I add that because I have seen people do it way too often.
